innixus Frost
The Boletus innixus Frost was first described as a species by Brattleboro, Vermont, botanist CharlesChristopher Frost in 1874.
“innixus” apparently refers to the dull tone of the yellowish-brown cap surface. The species' other notable characteristics include bright yellow pores on the underside of the cap, a curved stem, and a slightly rooting base.
This specimen was collected by Gene Yetter in the forested area of The New York Botanical Garden on Oct. 3, 2012
